Why Paris Reveals the Horror – and the Hypocrisies – of Global Terrorism

The world was shocked and horrified at the terror inflicted upon Paris on the night of Friday the 13th, 2015, when ISIS-affiliated militants killed well over 100 civilians in one of the world’s most iconic cities. An outpouring of grief, solidarity, support and condolences came in from across the world. The tragedy, and tyranny, of such terror cannot be underestimated, but it should also be placed in its global context: namely, that the chief cause of terrorism is, in fact, terrorism, and that the chief victims are the innocent, wherever they may be.

While ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks, following attacks the group undertook in previous days in both Beirut and Baghdad, it is worth remembering and reflecting on what led to the development of ISIS itself. The so-called Islamic State had its origins in the Iraq War, launched by the United States and closely supported by the United Kingdom in March of 2003. After overthrowing Saddam Hussein, a dictator once favored by the U.S., the occupying powers struggled to deal with a growing Sunni insurgency against their military occupation. In response, the U.S. helped create death squads in Iraq that further fueled a sectarian conflict between Shi’a and Sunni communities, which likewise fueled a growing regional rivalry between Shi’a Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia.

The resulting civil war in Iraq killed hundreds of thousands, and the U.S. aligned itself even more tightly with Saudi Arabia, a country the West considers to be "moderate" in comparison to both Iran and Syria, yet it was the primary financier of al-Qaeda. The broader aim, in Iraq and across the Middle East, was to support the regional hegemony of the West’s allies – Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Arab dictatorships – against their chief rivals, Iran and Syria. If it meant supporting the countries that supported al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups, so be it.

After all, it has never been much of a secret that the Saudis and their Gulf neighbors were the major financial backers of global terrorists; even then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted as much in a memo leaked by Wikileaks. Nor was it a secret that Saudi Arabia was responsible for more destabilization and terrorism inside Iraq than Iran, which nonetheless received most of the blame.

The Saudis and the Gulf dictatorships are U.S. and Western allies, with immense oil riches that have made them some of the largest investors and shareholders in Western banks and corporations. Iran and Syria, on the other hand, are not.

Al-Qaeda did not exist inside Iraq until after the U.S. invasion and occupation. Over the years, since the war and occupation began, the group has undergone a number of name changes and transitions. One such evolution of the group is the al-Nusra front. And another is now known as the Islamic State, or ISIS.

Origins of the Current Terror

When the Arab uprisings began against Western-supported dictators back in late 2010 and early 2011, the U.S. and its key Middle East allies faced an unprecedented crisis. The longtime French and U.S.-supported dictator of Tunisia, Ben Ali, fled his country in January of 2011. The following month, it was Egypt’s dictator, Hosni Mubarak, a “family friend” of Hillary Clinton’s, who had to leave.

The Saudis and other Arab dictators were furious that the U.S. could toss one of its major regional clients aside, fearful that if Mubarak could be removed, any of them could be next. Thus, Saudi Arabia and other Arab dictators led a counter-revolution against the Arab Spring, pouring in money to support dictators they considered friendly (such as in Jordan), sending in troops to violently crush uprisings (such as in Bahrain), and arming rebel groups and terrorists against long-time foes in an effort to take advantage of the uprisings and undermine their rivals (such as in Libya).

In Libya, NATO led a war against long-time dictator Colonel Gaddafi in cooperation with many extremist rebel groups, including al-Qaeda. France and Britain were the main proponents of the war against Libya, which is hardly surprising given that both countries have hundreds of years of experience invading, occupying, colonizing and waging war against peoples of the Middle East and Africa. The war in Libya was of course a monumental disaster. While it removed a dictator long despised by both the Western powers and the Gulf Arab dictators, its ultimate effect was to plunge the country into civil war and chaos, terrorism and collapse.

Meanwhile, the weapons looted in Libya during the war began making their way into neighboring Mali and the more-distant Syria. As the arms crossed borders, so too did terror and warfare, and the French weren't far behind. In early 2013, France launched airstrikes in Mali, leading to a ground invasion that ended in 2014. Around the same time, France also military intervened in the Central Africa Republic.

In 2013, Western powers including France, the UK and U.S. began increasing their participation in the Syrian civil war, which was already a full-blown regional proxy war pitting Syria’s government, led by Bashar al-Assad allied with Iraq and Iran, against Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Turkey. The Gulf dictatorships armed and funded religious extremist sects to fight against the Syrian government, and were aided in this process by Western countries.

The U.S., France and Britain provided training and support to so-called "moderate" rebels inside Jordan to fight against the Syrian government. The CIA has been involved in arming and training Syrian rebels at least since 2012, in close cooperation with Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The official line stressed that the CIA’s efforts aimed to prevent weapons from getting into the hands of extremist groups like al-Qaeda – yet virtually all of the rebel groups it was aiding inside Syria were hardline religious extremists.

Even as reports emerged that secular and moderate rebel groups had all but collapsed, the CIA continued to funnel more sophisticated weapons (in cooperation with Saudi allies) to these mythical “trustworthy” rebel groups. France was not far behind in delivering arms to Syrian rebel groups.

Around the same time, an internal CIA study noted that in its decades of experience arming insurgencies against regimes that the U.S. opposed, the agency’s efforts had largely failed. The main “exception” to the litany of failures, ironically, was when the CIA armed and trained the Mujahideen in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. That "success," as we now know, led directly to the creation of al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

A Plan Backfires

With all the support given to Syrian rebel groups in the form of training and arms, those same groups quickly became enemies of the West that had armed and trained them. This includes ISIS, whose rise was fueled by U.S. involvement in both Syria and Iraq, and who is funded and supported by key U.S. allies in the region such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey.

In fact, a report prepared by the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2012 predicted the rise of ISIS, noting that such al-Qaeda-affiliated groups were the “major forces driving the insurgency in Syria,” and added that they were being supported in their efforts to take over large parts of Syria and Iraq by “western countries, the Gulf states and Turkey.” Further, the document noted, this was “exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.” A former Pentagon official who ran the DIA even suggested that the U.S. not only didn't “turn a blind eye” to its support of such groups, but that “it was a willful decision.”

Here is the takeaway: the Syrian civil war, combined with the effects of the Iraq war, Libyan war and other conflicts in the region that were fueled by Western powers and their regional allies, has resulted in the massive refugee crisis Europe faces today, as millions of civilians flee the conflicts plaguing their nations while Western powers continue to pour weapons and money into them. Conflict and terror has bred further conflict and terror.

Yet when terrorism hits inside Western nations, like it did Friday in Paris, the reaction by Western governments is fairly, and tragically, typical. The Paris attacks occurred less than two months after France began launching air strikes against ISIS inside Syria, and have already prompted calls for a more aggressive strategy against ISIS in the future. So what can we expect as a result? Simply, more terror.

In short, if the objective is to oppose or prevent terrorism, the most logical strategy is not to dismantle civil liberties at home and send militaries and weapons abroad, but to stop participating in terrorism itself. This does not take away from the tragedy of the lives lost in Paris on Nov. 13, but the hypocrisy in how we acknowledge and address terrorism only enhances the tragedy. French President Francois Hollande called the attacks that killed 129 people an “act of war,” which it was. But in turn, he declared that “France will be merciless” in its response, and this is something we have yet to see.

If 200,000 dead Syrians, millions of refugees, and regional warfare spreading from state to state is considered "merciful" participation by Western nations in Middle East conflicts, the terror that might now be unleashed abroad – and the new terror that will, inevitably, once again wash ashore as a result – is indeed something to fear. To end terror, perhaps Western states should consider stopping its own participation in terror. In the very least, it would be a first step in the right direction.

And what do we want to see with vaccines here in the New Media? We merely want to see all toxic chemicals and heavy metals removed from vaccinesand for government to respect parents’ rights in deciding what medical interventions are best for their own children. I never thought I’d see the day that demanding we stop poisoning children with mercury in flu shots is called “anti-science.” But here we are, and that just tells you how insane the monopoly-run, criminal-minded vaccine industry has become these days. No wonder the public craves truthful reporting on this subject!
 
BOTTOM LINE: Any media outlet that tells you vaccines are safe is knowingly committing journalistic malpractice and lying to your face. They are paid by Big Pharma to tell such lies, and they knowingly put children in harm’s way for their own selfish profits. Even the ethically challenged vaccine pushers they roll out to push vaccines — people like Paul Offit — totally abandon ethics by failing to disclose their own financial ties to the vaccine industry when they’re interviewed on TV.

Here’s an important takeaway point on all this: Never read the U.S. mainstream media for any purpose other than tabloid entertainment. Most mainstream outlets are totally clueless, compromised and corrupted. Is The Military-Industrial Complex Invincible?

It was more than half a century ago that the then U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower, in his farewell address to the nation, warned of the growing influence of a phenomenon that still continues to undermine and weaken the bases of American democracy: the military-industrial complex.

The military-industrial complex is a concept denoting a money-spinning and economically beneficial interaction between the war-planners and the arms industry. The government officials set the plans for a new military adventure with the apparent goal of “exporting democracy” to other countries and “liberating” them while the genuine, behind-the-scenes goal is to further some political interests and plunder the natural resources of the target country. On their part, the multinational companies get profitable and lucrative deals for manufacturing weaponry, and the whole process, which ultimately leads to unwarranted killings and irretrievable destructions, undercuts the government’s accountability before the Constitution and the international law.

To get an idea of what the military-industrial complex is, it would be helpful to take a look at the relationship between the legislative bodies of the U.S. federal government, i.e. the bicameral Congress comprised of the Senate and the House of Representatives, the arms manufacturing industry, the interest groups, political lobbies, the multinational organizations and the corporate media.

For a long time, this dreadful complex, which the only army general elected as the U.S. President has worriedly warned about, has imposed additional and unjustifiable costs on the American taxpayers. The U.S. citizens have been bearing the brunt of the government’s warmongering and bloodletting across the globe. It’s noted that the United States, since its independence, has either directly or indirectly taken part in more than 50 wars and military confrontations that have cost the lives of millions of innocent, unarmed civilians. The most recent example is the 2003 invasion of Iraq, which until the complete withdrawal of the U.S. forces in 2011, claimed around 1.5 million lives.

The American citizens, even those who usually approve of the government policies regardless of which party is in power, have always complained about the disproportionate and irrational spending of the successive administrations on militarism and wars. This concern was echoed in President Eisenhower’s farewell address delivered on January 17, 1961 where he stated, “three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.”

The people’s dissatisfaction with the U.S. government’s excessive spending on military projects and arms production has been manifested in different ways; from the millions-strong rallies and demonstrations in several U.S. cities preceding the Iraq War, to the recent Occupy Wall Street movement, which was seminally oriented on economic demands, but subsequently expanded to encompass the people’s political grievances regarding the U.S. foreign policy and its military expeditions in the Middle East. Needless to say the Occupy Wall Street movement, which was a purely democratic and popular uprising, was brutally crushed and suppressed by the U.S. police state, as the prominent lawyer Marjorie Cohn puts it.

However, as the military-industrial complex grows and becomes stronger, the American democracy turns more fragile and unstable. The military-industrial complex has been a serious challenge to the democratic values upon which the Founding Fathers have constructed the U.S. Constitution. As time goes by, the government finds it more difficult to rationalize its imperial, expansionistic and militaristic agenda and justify its war adventures to its people, and once a government ceases to be responsible, accountable and transparent, it would be the starting point of the enfeeblement and evaporation of democracy.

The military-industrial complex wins profits for the arm dealers and traders whose existence and survival is hinged on wars and military confrontations. These contractors control and manipulate the public opinion through their dominance over the mainstream media. The mainstream media rarely run stories that are critical of the war policies of the government, and instead function as the propaganda wing of the state. A notorious example is the joint collaboration by Judith Miller and her colleagues at the New York Times to lay the groundwork for the invasion of Iraq in 2003 by presenting false evidence of the non-existent Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction. The massive media propaganda campaign by the New York Times and other state-controlled newspapers and TV channels in the United States instituted this belief that a war was necessary to prevent Saddam Hussein from going mad and dropping its chemical bombs on the heads of the American citizens. It goes without saying that Saddam Hussein was the very puppet whom the United States and its European allies prodded into attacking Iran in 1980.

Although imperialism and militarism have been two inherent and characteristic features of the U.S. political establishment for a long time, the world has been witness to an extreme growth of the American greed for more wealth and political power in the recent years, especially following the 9/11 attacks that marked the beginning of a new era in the U.S. relations with the international community. The 9/11 attacks, which completely accidentally took place when the hawkish Republican George W. Bush was in power, underpinned the mindset of “either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists” and provided a good justification for invading and attacking the countries which are seen as potential threats to the U.S. national security.

Of course the role of lobbies and interest groups in the unrestrained growth of the military-industrial complex should not be ignored. The Israeli lobby is seen as the most powerful and influential external force in the U.S. political atmosphere and the foremost role-player that alters the major foreign policy decisions took by the White House.

The prominent investigative journalist Wayne Madsen believes that the Israeli lobby owns the White House, Congress, the Democratic and Republican parties and Hollywood. “The Israeli Lobby owns the Congress, media, Hollywood, Wall Street, both political parties, and the White House. This kind of talk will get people fired by this lobby, as we have seen recently with White House correspondent Helen Thomas and CNN anchor Rick Sanchez. However, many Americans are growing tired of the arrogance of the Israel Lobby and their bigoted attitudes toward anyone who challenges their influence-peddling and their ridiculous insistence that Israel must be supported because of some ancient fairy tales involving some tribes who wandered the deserts of the Middle East and saw and heard non-existent things because of sun stroke, drinking bad water, and smoking local hallucinogenic plants,” said Madsen in a December 2010 interview with the Veterans Today news and analysis website.

The military-industrial complex never cares for the morality or decency of the wars in which innocent people are massacred. It simply cares for the dollars that are earned through waging wars. The White House and Pentagon have also shown that they stride on the same path and take action whenever there are chances for winning some financial gains, even if the gain is insignificant and dispensable.

Nevertheless, even though the military-industrial complex seems enormously powerful and prevailing, it’s not invincible. The grassroots movements, the alternative media, progressive, anti-war intellectuals, scholars, authors, journalists and conscious citizens can resist the forces that are driving our world to more wars and unrestricted bloodshed. Welcome to Nulandistan: A Multimedia Look at What the US and EU Have Unleashed on Ukraine

The Yatsenyuk regime’s anti-terrorism operations in the southern and eastern oblasts/provinces of Ukraine are really a use of martial force against Ukrainian civilians opposed to the coup-installed regime in Kiev. Predominately peaceful Ukrainian citizens opposing the coup leaders and not “armed separatists”  have been the main target of the regime’s militias.

The discourse about “pro-Russian” separatists is a misleading attempt to hide the real nature of the protests against the regime, which is opposition to a coup. The main issue is one of anti-coup protesters versus a junta and not separatists and federalists versus Kiev. To refer to the junta in Kiev as the government of Ukraine is to reject or ignore its illegality. 

Welcome to Ukraine Nulandistan

Wherever the US government says it is promoting democracy and freedom, as US Assistant-Secretary of State Victoria Nuland professes about Ukraine, there has been destruction, impoverishment, sectarianism, fighting, and death. Welcome to post-coup Ukraine or Nulandistan. It follows the precedents and traditions of destabilization and violence honoured by US officials like Senator John McCain in the Syrian Arab Republic (McCainistan) and by Hillary Clinton in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya  (Clintonistan).

Arseniy Petrovych Yatsenyuk, who has illegally taken the post of Ukrainian prime minister with thr support of the US and European Union, was never favoured by the many of the authentic protesters in Euro-Maidan or even the grassroots members of his allies. When, without any election or public discussion, he was arbitrarily given the office of prime minister, many in the Euro-Maidan protest booed him and some even cried “bullet to his head.” His party boss, the infamously corrupt YuliaVolodymyrivna Tymoshenko, was booed too after she arrived.  In reality, Yatsenyuk and the other Ukrainian politicians like the ultra-nationalist Svoboda’s Oleh Tyahnybok, appropriated the hopes and dreams of the Ukrainians that were protesting against not only the Ukrainian government of Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych, but the entire corrupt Ukrainian political establishment. Hiding behind the protesters, Yatsenyuk and Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna Party used the militias of their ultra-nationalist political allies to launch a violent coup in Kiev.

There is no functioning democracy in Ukraine and with the full support of the European Union and the US government free speech inside Ukraine is under attack by the new regime and its thugs. Yatsenyuk’s coup-installed regime has cracked down on media freedoms, sent the Ukrainian military to attack anti-coup protesters under the pretext of NATO-backed anti-terrorism operations, and started purges and witch hunts all over Ukraine. This started with the head of National Television Company of Ukraine, Aleksandr Panteleymonov, being threatened and beaten into resigning by Svoboda deputies Igor Miroshnynchenko and  Andrey Ilyenko.

A atmosphere of intimidation and bullying is the new order of the day in Nulandistan and politicians opposing the regime are regularly threatened and beaten, some to the point of near death. Intimidation and violent tactics have also been used to force Ukrainian politicians and civil servants to resign or hand over power across Ukraine.

Inside the Verkhova Rada or Ukrainian Parliament any of the remaining deputies who dare to speak against the regime and its policies are silences and beaten up. This is the US-supported freedom of speech that has been brought to Ukraine, Nuland-style. Senior deputy Petro Symonenko is pushed and prevented from speaking just for daring to condemn the use of the Ukrainian military against civilian protesters by Yatsenyuk’s regime. Before being silenced, Symonenko made the key point of noting how the ultra-nationalists were serving foreign interests and not the national interests of Ukraine and actually dividing the Eastern European country.

Since they took power, the so-called Euro-Maidan “democrats” of the Yatsenyuk regime began killing those Ukrainians that opposed them or protested against them. In the process the Yatsenyuk regime is denying them the rights that he and the Euro-Maidan movement claimed legitimized their coup or takeover of power in Kiev.

The House of Trade Unions Massacre in Odessa

In the famous port city of Odessa, on the coast of the Black Sea, the Yatsenyuk regime tried to create sectarian provocation by allowing a football match between Chernomorets Odessa and Metalist Kharkov, knowing that a thousands of ultra-nationalist regime supporters would flock into Odessa for the match on May 2, 2014. After the match the regime supporters held a rally sanctioned by the regime-installed local authorities where they started yelling “knife the Russians” using derogatory language. Then what appeared to be anti-coup activists, which either support federalization or separation, wearing St. George Ribbons and red bands on their sleeves confronted them, which led to a violent confrontation in Odessa.

In retrospect, it has become clear that these thugs were really undercover agents and agent provocateurs. Some of the riot police and security forces, which were sent by the regime in Kiev from outside Odessa, were also were wearing the same red bands around their sleeves and associating with the fake anti-coup activists. After the fake anti-coup activists, which are being called the “third party” in retrospect, disappeared the pro-coup side attacked the peaceful anti-coup activists that were near Odessa’s House of Trade Unions. When the anti-coup activists ran inside the building for safety, it was set ablaze with Molotov cocktails. The police watched as the pro-coup side attacked and killed the peaceful activists in House of Trade Unions while ambulances and fire trucks were prevented from saving many of the people inside that burned.

There is video evidence that shows Svoboda and Euro-Maidan supporters firing on the  people inside the House of Trade Union with guns while others are killing people inside (see the photographs above). A man who called presented himself as sotnik Mykola, a leader of Euro-Maidan, is even caught on tape firing into the building at people trying to escape the fire. A pregnant women was taped screaming for help before she was strangled to death by a regime supporter wearing a white and blue jackert(see the first figure). One of the ultra-nationalist supporters of the Yatsenyuk regime that was in Odessa during the attacks proudly wrote about the murder of the anti-coup activists in her Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/angela.aravina). “My jacket smells of burned rubber and it is stained with blood. On the one hand, there is horror, when I think of the faces of the dead people, on the other hand, there is pride, and there is nothing you can do about it,” she wrote (see figure below).

Russia’s  Perviy Kanal (Channel One or First Channel) network would use the publicly available YouTube footage about the clashes in Odessa to point what happened. Their important observations about the lead-up to the clashes would be reported by RT International in English for international audiences. Tatyana Ivananko, a survivor of the attack from the anti-coup activists camp in Odessa, would tell RT’s Ukrainian journalist Alexey Yaroshevsky in an interview the ”police were idle not doing anything” and that the coup’s supporters “finished off some of the people who managed to escape [the fire], and threw from the windows those who did not, to kill them on the ground.” She also confirmed that there were no foreign nationals among their ranks and that the “third party” were not involved with her group whatsoever.

TheYatsenyuk Regime’s Phony Anti-Terrorism Operations Are a Smokescreen

There has been a siege on Donestsk Oblast by the coup-installed regime in Kiev. Unarmed Ukrainian civilians were killed in Mariupol by orders of the Yatsenyuk regime on May 9, 2014. Raw footage from Mariupol shows how unarmed Ukrainian civilians were killed in the name of phony anti-terrorism operations by order of the Yatsenyuk regime in its efforts to gain control in the parts of Ukraine that do not recognize the illegal February coup that ousted the government.

More Ukrainian civilians were killed on May 10, 2014, when voting in a referendum was suppose to take place in several of Ukraine’s oblasts located in an area of Ukraine that is controversy called  Novorossiya for historical and sociological reasons. Albeit skirmishes did take place between the regime and armed resistance fighters in such places as Slavyansk, the US-backed Yatsenyuk regime killed Ukrainian civilians in this region when they tried to exercise their democratic rights to vote peaceful in the referendum. For example, instead of allowing the inhabitants of Krasnoarmeysk, in Donetsk Oblast, to vote on their future, the US-backed junta sent its militias to prevent the people there from freely voting. This was done under the pretext of anti-terrorism operations. The US-backed anti-terrorism operations are really a smokescreen aimed at hiding the regime’s motives to disrupt the referendum.

The regime is using the so-called National Guard of Ukraine to force its will on its opponents. What is important to note is that this National Guard  was created in March 2014 by the coup-installed government to secure their hold on power. The militia has incorporated sections of the same ultra-nationalist groups that helped violently oust the legal Ukrainian government in Kiev in February 2014. In other words, many of the same armed men that stormed Ukrainian government offices in a coup are now acting in an official capacity. Moreover, albeit the National Guard is official categorized as the reserve force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it is under the jurisdiction and control of the Interior Ministry. The reason for this is, because the Ukrainian military is not loyal to the coup-installed regime in Kiev. The irregular National Guard, which has ultra-nationalist integrated into its ranks that are loyal to the regime, on the other hand is dependable and more than willing to do the regime’s dirty work, like killing unarmed civilians, that many members of the Ukrainian military would refuse to do.

The Yatsenyuk Regime’s Predisposition to Commit Atrocities and Crimes in Ukraine

The Yatsenyuk and its supporters were itching to use force against those opposing them. The discourse about “pro-Russians” and, even, Russian-speakers in misleading. The real nature of the opposition in the southern and eastern portions of Ukraine is opposition to an illegal government installed through a foreign-back coup.

As early as March 10, 2014, Euro-Maidan supporters like the Ukrainian businessman Gennady Balashov began to say publicly that the protesters in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine should be killed. Balashov also called for the blockage of natural gas from Russia to the the countries of the European Union and for deliberate attempts to provoke against the Russian Federation. He candidly discourages any dialogue and called for bloodshed and ethnic cleansing, more properly termed as genocide, in places like Crimea, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk. Anyone that opposes the coup-installed regime in Kiev he clarified should be murdered without mercy. This includes those wearing the orange and black St.George’s Ribbon, which is a ribbon that is displayed to commemorator the end of the Second World War and the defeat of Nazi Germany, since it has become the distinguishing mark of the anti-coup protesters in Ukraine who view the US-supported February 2014 coup as the reemergence of the threat of fascism.

Balashov states: “We must block the pipeline. We must not allow natural gas trade. Only this can stop the invaders. We must block the pipeline and let them send Alpha to shoot everyone there. These people are on the foreign territory. Crimea, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk are the Ukrainian cities. If they wear the St.George ribbon, if they tear down our flag, we must shoot them in the head because they are enemy. We should not talk to them or educate them…”

Gennady Balashov’s comments echo those of the infamous anti-Russophone and anti-Russian Iryna Dmytrivna Farion, a deputy in the Rada for Svoboda, bluntly and without any hesitation tells the media that the coup-installed Yatsenyuk regime in Kiev should take the opportunity to kill all the Ukrainians protesting against the new regime. The US-supported Ukrainian ultra-nationalist politician even says that the Ukrainian protesters opposed to the US-supported regime in Kiev are “aliens” that need to be killed as a means of cleansing the country.  She calls for nothing short of a genocidal operation and even calls he compatriots “creatures.”

Iryna Farion’s otherization of Russophones and Russkiyes (ethnic Russians) is unusual, because as a philologist she should be aware that ethnic Ukrainians, Russkiyes, and Belarusians (White Russians) are ethno-linguistically one people which splintered from one another due to being cutoff by the boundaries of different empires that led to regional distinctions and, over time, the eventual construction of new ethnic and civic identities. The terms Velikorus (Great Russian), Malorus (Little Russian) and Belorus (White Russian) were geographic concepts originally before they were socially constructed into the ethnic identities and social structures that are Russkiye, Ukrainian, and Belarusian.

This does not mean that the Ukrainian identity is inauthentic or that Ukrainians are a sub-group of Russkiyes, what it means is that Ukrainians and Russkiyes are the same people with different perceptions of identity. Their perceived ethnographic differences, which are social constructs, have been utilized as geopolitical tools by the US and its allies to dupe nationalist elements, inside Ukraine (as well as the Russian Federation) into fighting and opposing their own kin and to destroy their own societies from the inside pursuing a fictitious purification of their society.

Additionally, the Russophone people or Russian-speakers in Ukraine are just as Ukrainian as the Ukrainaphone people or Ukrainian-speakers. The majority of the Russophones and Ukrainian-speakers are the descendants of the same local ancestors. The difference between the two groups is that one community adopted Russian as their main language. Regardless, the two languages are almost identical and the majority of the Ukrainian population are bilingual in Ukrainian and Russian. The mythical tribalism informing the views of Iryna Farion and other nationalists in Ukraine is nothing more than a distraction from the gross injustices and unequal distribution of power and wealth in Ukraine; it distracts the population from real issues about improving their lives and divides the countries citizens, preventing them from confronting their oligarch exploiters.

The Perpetrators of Terrorism are Blaming the Victims: Who Are The Real Terrorists?

Who are the real terrorists? Unarmed civilians trying to vote or coup figures like the foolish Arseniy Yatsenyuk, a self-appointed leader of  the “EuroMaidan” movement, sending armed groups to threaten and kill them? Moreover, the actions of the Yatsenyuk regime validate the premise in Moscow that Russian troops needed to be sent into the Crimean Peninsula to allow for the voting not to be disrupted.  If this did not happen the referendum on March 16, 2014 may have never taken place, with fighting taking its place.

Unarmed Ukrainian citizens can be clearly heard bravely yelling at the Yatesenyuk regime’s so-called National Guard militias  that they are “fascists” in much of the footage that is beginning to emerge from coup-controlled Ukraine. These people are the Yatsenyuk regime’s terrorists. Unarmed Ukrainians civilians that that have tried to peacefully prevent the Ukrainian military and National Guard from entering their towns and cities to either illegally establish what is essentially martial law for the illegitimate US-backed regime in Kiev or to prevent them from voting freely are the ones that the US government and the European Union are condemning while trying to scapegoat Russia.

The real terrorists and fascists are the coup leaders that have sold themselves and Ukraine to foreign powers. Also the real terrorist and fascists are the foreign-backers of the Yatsenyuk regime in the US, Britain, France, Poland, Canada, and Germany, which have brought division, ruin, and destruction across the globe, from the former Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Libya to Syria, Mali, the Central African Republic, and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

If Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former president of Iran, is mistranslated and misrepresented by the mainstream media in North America and Western Europe about saying he wants to “wipe Israel off the map” during a conference, the US government and European Union have field days condemning Iran. In Nulandistan, however, the coup-installed head of Khersonshchyna, Governor Yuri Odarchenko, can praise the invasion of Ukraine by Adolph Hiter and Nazi Germany like he did on May 9, 2014 to the anger of Ukrainian war veterans, the US, Canada, and European Union all keep silent. Do not expect any in-depth reporting by CNN, the BBC, France 24, Fox News, or their ilk about the murder of unarmed civilians in Ukraine by the Yatsenyuk regime either. These media networks are conducting an information war against any countries opposed to the US and its allies. Instead of reporting what is actually taking place, the mainstream media in North America and the European Union will continue distorting the truth by blaming Russia and those Ukrainians that it deceivingly, as a means refusing to acknowledge their legitimate opposition and resistance to the illegal regime in Kiev, calls  ”pro-Russian.”
